The 20-year-old actress was certainly dressed down and ready for the warmer 60-degree Fahrenheit climate as she flew into Los Angeles International Airport on Friday.
It didn't take long for Dakota to doff the trench coat, which then revealed a thin blue and long-sleeved tops for women featuring a dramatic V cut-out in back.
The War Of The Worlds star capped off her Bohemian look with a black felt hat and tinted shades that served to camouflage her face, about which fell her light blonde hair.
A purple and white checkered tote, which held her personal essentials, was looped over her arm as she headed to a waiting vehicle.
Meanwhile, the former child star will soon mark her official entry to adulthood when she turns 21 years old in February.
However, as she revealed to PageSix, she intends to spend the milestone birthday quietly at home with a few pals.
Dakota's film schedule has been rolling nonstop with three films in post-production and one announced.
She stars in the musical drama Viena And The Fantomes co-starring
Evan Rachel Wood and Zoƫ Kravitz and scheduled for a 2015 release.Dakota also stars opposite Richard Gere in the drama Franny, also set to bow in theatres next year.
And then there's the drama American Pastoral co-starring Jennifer Connelly and Ewan McGregor.
Dakota is also slated to play the lead role in the just-announced biopic Brain On Fire.
